About Me

Hi, I am Katie. I’m a systems thinker, a data translator, and a champion for mission-driven work. With more than 20 years in the nonprofit sector, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the passion and complexity behind every impactful organization. I thrive on bringing clarity to chaos—whether that’s transforming tangled databases into streamlined donor insights or helping teams confidently use their CRM to guide strategic decisions.

My journey into fundraising started with a belief in equity, access, and storytelling—and the knowledge that behind every donor relationship is a meaningful connection waiting to be built. I bring a calm, collaborative energy to every project, and I’m happiest when helping others feel empowered by their tools, not overwhelmed by them.

Originally from Los Angeles, CA, and now based in Milwaukee, WI, I launched In Its Right Place Consulting to blend my love of data with my commitment to the nonprofit sector. Outside of work, you’ll find me at a soccer game (either my sons' or my own), reading a book, seeing live music, or getting ready for my next road trip. I will most likely have a good cup of coffee, a computer, and a to-do list close by.

Professional Summary

Over the past two decades, I’ve held senior leadership roles in development, marketing, and community engagement for organizations ranging from grassroots youth programs to national campaigns and museums. I’ve led successful annual campaigns, revitalized membership programs, and overseen comprehensive data and CRM transitions—ensuring that fundraising systems are both effective and sustainable.

As the founder of In Its Right Place Consulting, I now partner with nonprofits across the country to rebuild fundraising infrastructure, improve donor data management, and design tailored development strategies. My clients benefit from my cross-functional experience and my ability to serve as a bridge between nonprofit teams and technology vendors. I speak both languages fluently—ensuring seamless CRM transitions, streamlined workflows, and optimized data use for fundraising success.

I excel at stepping into complex, evolving environments and identifying clear, actionable paths forward. Whether guiding a team through a major gifts strategy or untangling years of data for a clean, strategic reset, I bring a solution-oriented mindset and a practical understanding of nonprofit realities. I hold a Master’s of Public Administration with a focus in nonprofit management and bring both strategic vision and hands-on execution to every engagement.
